THANK YOU FOR 40 YEARS

Forty years ago, I set out to start my own architectural practice with one goal in mind – to create a diverse firm that offered new ideas while upholding high ethical standards. When I opened the doors of Moody Nolan in 1982, I was one of a few minority-owned firms in town. At that time, the overwhelming perception in the industry was that minority firms couldn’t design and deliver major projects. I believed if we focused on hiring diverse talent, we could set ourselves apart by understanding our clients on a deeper level.

In 40 years, we’ve worked hard to break down barriers in the industry and become the firm we are today. We’ve surpassed most of my dreams with some I still wish to accomplish — from designing our first project, the New Life Apostolic Church, to working on $1 billion projects in New York City—we continue to set the bar high. We’ve grown from a staff of two to over 300 employees across 12 office locations. In 2021, we received the AIA Architecture Firm award, forever shaping the legacy of our firm and the profession.

I am grateful for the partners who took a chance on us in the early days, and for every consultant, peer or partner who continues to put their trust in us. Most importantly, I am appreciative of our staff— past and present— who work tirelessly to design spaces that uplift, empower, and inspire.

As I reflect on the accomplishments of our firm during the past 40 years, I am looking forward to the future with new aspirations. Moody Nolan has entered an exciting era, as an industry-leader in design, strategically pursuing like-minded clients. As always, we’ll continue to place ethics and design excellence at the forefront of everything we do, creating spaces that are responsive to people and place.

The future is bright, and I look forward to serving the community for years to come.
